Why is it so tough to move on after breakup?

Because it’s a grieving process.

Because you have loved. You have invested time, effort, emotions, everything and it didn’t work out the way you wanted.

Because you’re constantly reminiscing the past and you’re recalling all the wonderful memories and all the rosy good things.

Because the past seems rosy and the future seems bleak.

But seeming is still not the truth.

There was a reason why it didn’t work out. Maybe there were many reasons why it didn’t work out.

There’s one thing that it boils down for why it’s so tough to move on: your own attachment to the relationship. You might be playing different scenarios of what-if in your head, hoping your relationship had a different outcome.

It is your reluctance to fully accept the ending that makes it so much more difficult to move on.

And it’s okay. Time really does help. With time, another more balanced perspective will also emerge. With time, you will also grow and gain a better understanding about yourself and relationships in general.

So it’s tough. But hold your head high, and don’t make harder on yourself than it has to be. It will pass.

A lovely quote from Dalai Lama: “Sometimes, not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck.”
